    Description

"BLUE'S BASTARDS--A TRUE STORY OF VALOR UNDER FIRE" is the personal memoir of the author, Randy Herrod, who was a USMC Private with the 9th Marine Division, 3rd Battalion in an Honor Platoon known as "Blue's Bastards" named after combat leader "Blue"--Marine lieutenant Oliver North who was known for his bravery. He was wounded and Herrod dragged back to safety saving his life. After North was posted back in the States, Herrod was transferred to another platoon. One night, a patrol in a village suspected of harboring Viet Cong took on machine gun fire which drew return fire from the Marines under Herrod's command. Women and children were killed. Herrod was court-martialed and tried for first degree murder.when Oliver North heard of the charges, he flew back to Vietnam and launched his own investigation which led to Herrod being found innocent.
